What is on offer?

The Farm Safety Advisory Program offers you free advice and practical tools, tailored to small-medium farms, to help improve health and safety. This program can support your safety efforts by;
  • Giving access to dedicated advisors for small to medium farming businesses.
  • Working with you to identify safety issues.
  • Providing you with practical resources so you can farm safely. These include induction checklists, hazard checklists, safe work procedures and safety awareness videos.
  • Free events and workshops.
The Program aims to provide the tools and support that farming businesses need, provided by people who understand the pressures and complexities of farming. NSW Farmers delivers this free program with support from the NSW Government.

Meet Charles, Farm Safety Advisor

On behalf of the program partners, I would like to thank you for taking a few seconds to read this newsletter and welcome you to the Farm Safety Advisory Program.

How are we going to do this? Through working with you and your business in one on one consultations, on farm, online or by phone paired with workshops in your local community to help your business develop and implement your own effective WHS framework.

Did I mention it’s free? This is thanks to the work of the NSW Farmers Association in providing the advisors and support to cover the state and SafeWork NSW who have not only administered the state government funding making the program possible, provide technical input and support to our team.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe time with their families and looking forward to working with you in 2022.

Charles Laverty
Farm Safety Advisor

Have you reviewed your emergency plans?

As the recent flooding and extreme weather activities have shown, having a current emergency plan in place has never been more important. Having a plan communicated with staff and family can save time and resources, reduce panic and may reduce injuries and loss of life.
Emergency plans can cover a header fire in the crop, a crush injury in the shed or stockyards, flood events or any other incident.

The best time to prepare for an emergency is before it happens, we are able to predict what actions may be needed and who we need to contact for assistance. An existing plan can be quickly modified to any situation.
