The Farm Safety Advisory Program through funding from NSW Government offers the following free programs and workshops for small to medium farming businesses in NSW (under 50 full time employees).

Easy To Do WHS (For Farmers)

These workshops have been developed for primary producers to support you in understanding your legal obligations, and to create a safer, healthier and more successful business whilst demonstrating to your employees, contractors, visitors and family that their health and safety is important to you.

On Farm WHS Health Check

This program links our Farm Safety Advisors directly with your business through one on one consultation. Our advisors work with you to analyse your existing WHS framework and provide solutions to ensure the business WHS framework is sound.

After registering interest in an on farm health check our advisors will contact you with an estimated time that they will be in your area and arrange a time for the visit.

Effective Worker Induction

We provide guidance on developing your own worker induction program including an introduction to work health and safety, roles and responsibilities, hazards and risk management, emergency procedures, safe work practices, reporting and incident management, health and wellbeing, and legal obligations.

Harvest Ready Workshop

With harvesting commencing, this workshop will keep you up to date and prepared. With speakers from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, SafeWork NSW, and Essential Energy we will discuss how changes to regulations effect your business along with how to reduce the potential for accidents.

Emergency Planning Workshop

During this workshop we discuss what a business should have in place to reduce the impact of an emergency on our people, livestock crops and infrastructure before they happen. By the end of the workshop you will have the basis of an emergency plan for several potential events that can impact your business.

Mental Health First Aid

This two day accredited course is provided to assist farming businesses identify and act on the often unseen injuries ever present in our workplaces.

This course has a minimum attendance of 15 people.

 

Safer Shearing Sheds

These 3 hour workshops take producers through the latest innovations in shearing shed design and wool harvesting by Australian Wool Innovation, as well as practical tips for improving safety and operations in existing shearing shed and equipment designs.

These workshops are expected to commence in March 2023 and be held around the state over the coming year with the locations based on demand.
